Spiti Valley Winter Itinerary

Day 1: Chandigarh to Narkanda

Departure from Chandigarh: Start your journey after breakfast, early in the morning to avoid traffic. Begin your drive from Chandigarh towards Narkanda.
Breakfast Stop: Around halfway through your journey, you can take a break for lunch at one of the dhabas/restaurant along the highway. Enjoy some traditional North Indian food items.
Continue the Journey: Resume your journey towards Narkanda after lunch. Enjoy the scenic views as you drive through the picturesque landscapes of Himachal Pradesh.
Arrival in Narkanda: Reach Narkanda by late afternoon or early evening, depending on your departure time and the traffic conditions. Check into your hotel or guesthouse and freshen up.
Explore Narkanda: Spend the evening exploring the beautiful hill town of Narkanda.
Dinner: Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, sampling some Himachali specialties.
Overnight Stay: Stay overnight at your chosen accommodation in Narkanda. Relax and rejuvenate for the adventures planned for the next day

Day 2: Narkanda to Sangla

After breakfast, embark on your journey towards Sangla, a beautiful valley in the Kinnaur district.
Start your journey from Narkanda early in the morning, enjoying the picturesque views of the Himalayas.
Drive to Sarahan, a small-town famous for the Bhimakali Temple, dedicated to the goddess Bhimakali.
Visit the Bhimakali Temple, an architectural marvel built in traditional Himachali style. Explore the intricate wood carvings and ancient artifacts within the temple complex.
En route, enjoy the scenic drive through lush green forests, apple orchards, and quaint villages.
Make a stop at Bhaba Valley to witness the breathtaking landscapes and pristine natural beauty.
Arrive in Sangla by afternoon and check into your accommodation.
Spend the evening exploring the charming village of Sangla, known for its traditional Kinnauri architecture and friendly locals.
Enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, sampling authentic Himachali cuisine.
Spend the night in Sangla, surrounded by the majestic Himalayan peaks.

Day 3: Sangla – Chitkul – Nako

Depart from Sangla in the morning after breakfast.
Drive towards Chitkul, which is approximately 20 kilometers away.
Arrive in Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-China border.
Explore Chitkul village, visit the ancient temples, interact with locals, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Baspa River and surrounding Himalayan peaks.
After sightseeing, depart from Chitkul towards Nako.
Continue the journey towards Nako, which is around 125 kilometers away.
Arrive in Nako by late afternoon or early evening.
Explore Nako village, visit the ancient Nako monastery, and stroll around the serene Nako Lake.
Enjoy the stunning sunset views from the hills surrounding Nako.
Check into your accommodation and relax for the evening.
Overnight stay in Nako.

Day 4: Nako – Tabo – Dhankar – Kaza

Depart from Nako early in the morning after breakfast.
Enjoy the scenic drive through the rugged landscapes of Spiti Valley.
Make a stop at Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest functioning Buddhist monasteries in the Himalayas. Tabo Monastery is also known as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas”, famous for its ancient murals and scriptures.
Lunch on the way
Continue the journey towards Kaza, passing through picturesque villages like Dhankar.
Arrive in Kaza by late afternoon or early evening.
Check into your accommodation in Kaza.
Spend the evening exploring the local market and enjoying a traditional Spitian dinner.
Overnight stay in Kaza

Day 5: Kaza sightseeing ( Hikkim, Chicham, Langza)

After breakfast, visit Key Monastery, an iconic Tibetan Buddhist monastery perched atop a hill.
Depart for Hikkim, one of the highest inhabited villages in the world.
Visit the famous Hikkim Post Office, claimed to be the highest post office in the world. Send a postcard to your loved ones from this unique location.
Explore the serene surroundings and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
Interact with the locals and learn about their traditional way of life.
After lunch, head towards Chicham village, known for its breathtaking hanging bridge.
Embark on a thrilling hike to reach the Chicham Bridge, which connects Chicham village with Kibber.
Experience the adrenaline rush as you walk across the suspension bridge suspended over a deep gorge.
Enjoy panoramic views of the Spiti Valley and the majestic mountains surrounding the area
Spend some time exploring the village and interacting with the friendly locals.
Langza is known for its ancient monastery and fossil discoveries.
Explore the picturesque village of Langza, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush green meadows.
Visit the Langza Buddha Statue, which is one of the highest Buddha statues in the world, overlooking the village.
Visit the Langza Monastery and learn about the rich cultural heritage of the region.
If time permits, you can also hike to nearby fossil hunting sites and explore the ancient geological treasures of the Spiti Valley.
Bid farewell to the breathtaking beauty of Hikkim, Chicham, and Langza as you leave with unforgettable memories of your Spiti Valley adventure.
Return to Kaza or your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Kaza to Kalpa

After breakfast, start your journey early in the morning from Kaza, Himachal Pradesh.
Upon reaching Reckong Peo, visit the local market and explore the surroundings.
After sightseeing, proceed towards Kalpa, which is only around 7 kilometers from Reckong Peo.
Explore the charming village of Kalpa, known for its apple orchards, ancient temples, and breathtaking views of the Kinnaur Kailash range.
Visit the Kalpa Monastery, also known as Hu-Bu-Lan-Kar Gompa, and witness the panoramic vistas of the snow-capped peaks.
Spend the evening witnessing the mesmerizing sunset over the Himalayas.
Overnight stay in Kalpa.

 

Day 7: Kalpa to Chandigarh

Start your journey from Kalpa in the morning.
Drive through the picturesque Kinnaur Valley, enjoying the stunning views of the Himalayas.
Continue your journey towards Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh.
Drop at Chandigarh railway station
